'In delay there lies no plenty … youth's a stuff will not endure'

Sun & Moon Theatre have returned to Fringe Theatre Fest with Shakespeare's most delightful yet melancholic comedy, Twelfth Night (or What You Will).

As the First World War wages on, those back at home in Illyria try to forget, seeking distraction through frivolity, solace, and companionship. When refugee twins from Messaline, Viola and Sebastian, are shipwrecked and separated, they shake up this grief-stricken community. Believing her brother to be dead, Viola disguises herself as a young man and works for Orsino, a wounded soldier who craves the affection of the recently bereaved Olivia.

Conscious of life’s ephemerality, Shakespeare’s characters seize the day, resulting in mistaken identity, folly and love. Pack a picnic, bring blankets and chairs and prepare to be entertained by a vibrant ensemble production enriched with wit, passion and live music.

Reviews:
"Sun and Moon Theatre’s compassionate and intelligent retelling of ‘Twelfth Night’ delighted a full house … The decision to set it a hundred years ago, with echoes of terrible conflict far, but not far enough, away, is inspired."
★★★★ RemoteGoat

"[An] excellent production … the characterisation was spot on."
★★★★ Exepose

"From start to finish, the audience are constantly entertained, laughing at the audacity of Shakespeare’s humour, left breathless at the story at work and captivated by each and every performance."
