The Golden Lion Tap is an old coaching inn that borders The Square. The management have generously made available the large back room that is well-known in the town as a music venue. This will be configured as a studio/cabaret space with room for 50.
The Baptist Hall is at the top end of Boutport Street, next to the Baptist Church. This fine, historic building provides a large enough space to accommodate a generous 60 seat studio theatre, big enough for dance and some of the larger-cast extravaganzas.
Room Upstairs is a newly refurbished room on the First Floor of the Baptist Hall providing an intimate space for a select 20 at a time. Shows here are almost guaranteed to sell-out so early booking is recommended. This is a Pay-What-You-Will venue.
St Anne's Arts & Community Centre provides an informal 50 seat setting for a number of particularly innovative pieces of work. The building itself is well worth a visit, steeped, as it is, in history. We are indebted to Barnstaple Town Council for making St Anne's available.
The Guildhall also comes courtesy of Barnstaple Town Council. Sited on the High Street at one corner of the Panier Market, it's a compact building rich in history and its impressive main chamber will host a varied programme. This is a Pay-What-You-Will venue.
The Tent on the Square will be a 60-seat venue housing shows suitable for all the family. It will also be a space for workshops of all sorts. There will be room for an audience 60 strong and the box-office will be situated just across the street in The Golden Lion Tap.
There will be a multitude of other less formal venues both outside and inside which will be added to the map as we get nearer to the end of June.
